Derbyshire Dales District Council is prosecuting the Chatsworth House Trust and event organiser Felicity Jane Reason for alleged offences committed under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.

The district council alleges that contraventions of health and safety law by the defendants led to the death of Mr Frederick Bolton, of Sheffield, from injuries sustained when riding his motorcycle on the Chatsworth Estate at the horse trials in May 2013.

The trust and Ms Reason pleaded not guilty at an earlier hearing held at Derby Crown Court.

The trial at Leicester Crown Court is expected to last a number of weeks.
