Dales drug offence suspects on bail until mid August

Police have confirmed that suspects arrested in a series of Dales drug raids have been re-bailed until mid August, while substance analysis and enquiries continue.

In June, the Mercury revealed that police had seized suspected drugs – including cocaine, crack cocaine and cannabis – as part of a week-long drugs operation in the Matlock area.

Officers said prosecutions have yet to been brought as a result of Operation Rand, but this could change in the coming weeks.

A Derbyshire police spokesman said: “Our enquiries are continuing and a number of people who were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences are still on bail.

“We are also testing a range of substances recovered and this takes time to be completed.”

In total, 10 properties were searched during the operation, four cars were seized, numerous stop-searches were carried out and five pubs were visited by police and drugs dogs.

“We would still urge anyone with information about drugs activity to call us,” the spokesman added.
