Derbyshire County Council is currently in the process of recruiting staff for the brand new Meadow View Community Care Centre, next to Whitworth Hospital, in Darley Dale.

The roles will be both full and part time and range from care workers, reception and catering staff to deputy unit managers, domestic and laundry staff.

The authority is also looking for volunteers for the facility.

The council organised two jobs fairs in order to fill the roles, one of which took place yesterday, the other is taking place today at the Underhall Resource Centre, in Chesterfield Road, Two Dales.

The event will take place between 5pm and 9pm tonight and anyone interested in working at the care centre is invited to attend.

The council’s assistant director Simon Stevens said: “Staff will be on hand at the jobs fair to give more details about what’s on offer, what’s involved and what qualifications you might need.

“We hope that people who are interested visit the event and find out more about the exciting opportunities on offer.”

Those interested in employment opportunities at Meadow View, who cannot make the fair, are asked to call the council on 01629 532490 or apply online on the county council’s website, www.derbyshire.gov.uk/jobs

The Meadow View Community Care Centre will include 32 specialist residential care beds, a 20-place day centre, public café and health and wellbeing zone. It will also offer short-term respite care.

The centre is set to open this summer, however a date for the grand opening has yet to be set.

Members of the public will be encouraged to use the community facilities and there will be a full programme of daily activities for people receiving day care.
