Darley Dale is set to go to the polls

RESIDENTS of Darley Dale will soon decide who their latest councillor is at the town’s by-election today.

The vacancy arose when Tony Brookes stepped down from Darley Dale Town Council after serving the area for nine years.

Tony, who represented the South Ward, said: “This was my third term of office and after such a long time I now feel ready to step down.”

Four candidates have all put themselves forward for the position and the public must now decide who they would like to fill the role.

The candidates are:

l Robert Barrington-Evans (Independent)

l Helen Bown-Brownridge (Independent),

l John Evans (Fresh Start) and

l Stephen Keane (Independent)

Voting will start at 7pm this evening (Thursday) and will continue until 10pm.

There will be three polling stations at the Mencap Centre, Greenway Lane, Darley Dale, the Community Room, Arc Leisure, Bakewell Road, Matlock, and the Laburnum Inn, 2 Hackney Road, Matlock.
