Premier Inn will officially open its brand new £3.4m hotel in Matlock next month.
The 58-bedroom hotel and restaurant/bar, which has been built on a derelict site in front of Arc Leisure on Bakewell Road, will open its doors to guests on Monday August 8.
A total of 26 jobs have been created by the hotel chain’s latest development, with three team members being enrolled on an apprenticeship scheme and eight being previously long-term unemployed.
Kellie Jervis, New Openings Manager for Premier Inn Matlock, said: “I’m delighted to be opening the new Matlock site right here on the doorstep of the beautiful Peak District.
“The team has been busy getting to know the local community and has set a target of £850 to raise for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, with fund-raising summer open days, face painting, quiz nights and charity raffles all planned during July and August.
“We are also hosting a community event on July 18 with The Derby Federation for Mental Health where we will be gardening, growing vegetables and creating habitats for wildlife so that the Federation’s service users can sit, relax and enjoy a local green space.”
The hotel’s 58 bedrooms will showcase the company’s latest high-spec, modern design with a 40” flat screen TV, a luxury king-size Hypnos bed and self-service check-in facilities.
A new Thyme restaurant onsite will provide contemporary and traditional British cuisine. Guests will be able to enjoy an all-you-can-eat breakfast for £8.99 where kids eat for free, with continental breakfasts starting at £6.99.
Premier Inn is the UK’s largest hotel chain, with over 700 hotels nationwide. The opening of the Matlock hotel is part of the company’s expansion plans that will see it extend its current number of bedrooms UK-wide to 85,000 by 2020.
