Spade-wielding youngsters pulled on their wellies for a day of digging at an outdoor centre.
Dukes Barn in Beeley, which provides adventure activities for children, invited pupils from Rowsley Primary to the centre to help with a project in the playground.
Children spent the day digging a trench to plant a willow arch.
Class teacher Gill Mckay said: “The pupils had a fantastic time and all worked hard.
“Dukes Barn has been given a grant for a sustainable project and they wanted to involve a local school.”
The project is set to continue for a couple more weeks and will give all the pupils in the school a chance to work at the centre, in School Lane.
This week youngsters are set to weave the willow arch – and they will be rewarded for their hard work with a chance play on the centre’s obstacle course.
