Derbyshire: App helps you give feedback

Patients in the Dales have been given a new handy tool to help them communicate with their local healthcare providers.

Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Trust has launched a Raising Concerns phone app, which is designed to ensure patients and families can give quick and easy feedback about their care.

The phone app is now available to download for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, by searching for ‘DCHS’.

Tracy Allen, chief executive of the NHS trust, said: “Quick feedback is vitally important to us – good and bad – so that we can monitor how well we are doing and also so that we can pick up any concerns early and act on them.

“Enabling people to do this immediately on their phones, anywhere and anytime, is designed to make it as easy as possible to really capture what people are thinking and feeling about our care on an instant basis.”

The phone app is designed for use by anyone – be it NHS staff members, patients, carers, relatives or visitors – who has something they want to say about how services are run or delivered.

Feedback can be made anonymously if people choose not to be identified.

In using technology to make the move, the trust is ensuring it is as responsive as possible and in line with delivering care in the ‘DCHS Way’, which is a set of guiding principles placing quality at the core of how care is organised and delivered.

Tracy Allen continued: “We want to make it as simple as possible for people to be able to tell us what they think and raise any concerns at all. All feedback helps us improve our services and we are constantly looking for ways we can be better.”

Other methods of leaving feedback are still in place, including the Friends and Family Test and DCHS patient feedback forms.
