PCSOs work as part of Safer Neighbourhood teams, alongside police officers and partner organisations, to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in the community.

Their main role is to patrol on foot, ensuring a highly visible presence on the streets and to work proactively to address crime trends and problems within local areas.

Most of the available posts are in Derby but a small number of vacancies may be available in Chesterfield and Buxton.

This is the first PCSO recruitment since the spring of 2015, when 16 new PCSOs were taken on.

To become a PCSO, you must complete an application form, which can be submitted online or by post. If you are successful at the first stage, you will be invited for an interview and if you pass this stage, you will be put forward for pre-employment checks, such as a fitness test.

Once you have successfully completed all of the pre-employment checks, you will be allocated a place on a training course in either September 2016 or March 2017.

The application process launches on Thursday, March 10 and closes on Tuesday, March 29.
