Derbyshire Dales bin collections resumed

Usual waste and recycling round schedules re-start today (Monday) in the Derbyshire Dales after the Christmas and New Year bank holiday.

Collections over the festive period were disrupted by snow and ice, but the District Council’s contractor Serco aims to catch up with all missed domestic waste collections by the end of Wednesday this week (7 January).

Missed domestic waste is being collected today by additional Serco crews in Osmaston, Snelston, Wyaston, Ednaston, Sudbury, Bradley, Yeavely, Boylestone, and parts of Hulland Ward, Middleton by Wirksworth and Wirksworth. The domestic waste catch-up will continue on Wednesday again in Wirksworth and in parts of Cromford, Bonsall and Matlock. Some roads have already been done.

Missed recycling collections are due to take place tomorrow (Tuesday 6 January) in Taddington, Tideswell, Wardlow, Bradwell, Litton, Great & Little Hucklow, Grindleford, Hassop, Padleys, Abney, Millers Dale, Rowland, Foolow, Priestcliffe and Wheston.

However, other missed recycling and green collections have now been cancelled to enable crews to focus on missed domestic waste. In these cases, additional recycling will be taken on residents’ next scheduled recycling collection. If blue recycling bins and bags are already full, extra recycling can be left for collection in untied plastic bags (not black bin bags) or suitable plastic containers. Residents are asked to separate paper and cardboard from other recycling materials, ideally bundled up or in boxes.

‘Double’ recycling collections will take place as scheduled this Friday (9 January) in Stoney Middleton, Curbar, Calver, parts of Darley Dale and Beeley. Because extra collections are anticipated, this might run into Saturday.

‘Double’ recycling collections will also take place in other missed areas next week - including Bakewell, Parwich, Youlgrave and Brassington.
