Derbyshire Dales: Proposal for trail by railway

Planning chiefs are to decide whether to install a cycle path running from Rowsley to Matlock.

Derbyshire County Council has submitted plans to Derbyshire Dales District Council for the White Peak Multi–Use Trail to be created to run adjascent to the former stretch of the Matlock to Manchester railway.

The cycleway would start at Rowsley and finish at Peak Rail, in Matlock.

The application’s design and access statement says: “The multi–use trail will run along disused sections of this railway, including through Haddon Tunnel and alongside the restored sections operated by Peak Rail.”
