Derbyshire Dales Village Games event is a summer stunner

The sun shone on hundreds of fun-seekers at the latest Derbyshire Dales Village Games spectacular, held at Carsington Water.

The annual event, organised by Derbyshire Dales District Council, High Peak Borough Council and Derbyshire Village Games, was attended by around 600 young people last Saturday.

Activities for all the family - many delivered by local sports clubs - included kick boxing, football, Ozbox, sumo suits and ju-jitsu. A fun run around Severn-Trent’s beautiful Carsington Water was led by Lenny the Lion from nearby Gulliver’s Kingdom.

Chairman of Derbyshire Dales District Council’s Communities Committee Councillor Jennifer Bower said: “This fabulous day was once again blessed with great weather. It is tremendous that so many people of all ages took advantage of getting involved and getting active in such an enjoyable way.

“Our thanks go to local sports clubs and providers who showcased their talents, and to the many leisure staff and volunteers who organised a whole host of attractions.”
