Derbyshire Dales: Villagers get smart

Smart–thinking Dales residents have signed up in their hundreds to a hi–tech way to beat crime.

SmartWater kits were given out to residents in Hathersage and Tansley in a crime prevention campaign led by Derbyshire Dales District Council and Derbyshire police.

SmartWater is an invisible liquid that fluoresces green under ultra–violet (UV) light and contains a unique forensic fingerprint. With over two billion combinations, SmartWater links property to its owner and criminals to a crime scene.

The door–knocking promotion included Derbyshire Dales District Council and Derbyshire police, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, Derbyshire County Council, Derbyshire Council for Voluntary Services, Peaks and Dales Volunteering and Advancement Project, Derbyshire Handyvan and Dales Housing.
