DERBYSHIRE: Keep kids busy with summer reading challenge

Parents and carers can keep their children entertained over the school holidays with this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.

Youngsters will be kept on their toes with a spine-tingling theme called Creepy House, inviting them to venture into gripping tales of all things strange and spooky.

The reading challenge, which launched on Saturday and runs until September 7, challenges children to read and return six books borrowed from their local library.

Cllr Ellie Willcox, Derbyshire County Council’s deputy cabinet member for health and communities, said the challenge is bound to inspire youngsters to read.
