Derbyshire man JAILED for stealing bracelet worth thousands from Chesterfield jewellers

A man who snatched a bracelet worth several thousand pounds from a Chesterfield jewellers has been jailed by magistrates.

Karl James Ward, 31, formerly of Old Whittington Lane, Unstone, pleaded guilty to stealing the jewellery from Stuart Bradley Jewellers, on Burlington Street, when he appeared before Chesterfield magistrates’ court on Wednesday, November 25.

The court heard how Ward went into the shop on Wednesday, September 9, and asked an assistant to look at the bracelet.

He then snatched it from their hands and ran out of the store.

Ward was sentenced to eight weeks in prison and ordered to pay £2,000 in compensation, plus court costs.
