Derbyshire residents warned over new courier scam
The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) have received reports of fraudsters cold calling people and identifying themselves as Detective Constable Martin Benton of New Scotland Yard fraud department.
The fraudsters then use the false identity to try and convince members of the public to hand over their credit or debit cards and personal banking information to a courier.

Detective Inspector Rob King, Head of the Derbyshire Constabulary Economic Crime Unit, said: “Never give out your card details, PIN or bank card to anyone and always end any suspicious calls immediately before reporting the incident.
“Remember, the police will not cold call about a suspected offence, the banks will never suggest for you to hand your card to a courier and the banks and police would never ask for your PIN or bank card.”
