The bases included abseiling/climbing, a space hopper relay, target shooting, fire-lighting and boiling water, mountain biking, cannon relay (as seen at the Edinburgh Tatoo), circus skills and pioneering.

The Derbyshire County Commissioner Tom Stoddart was present to award the trophy and certificates; he was particularly pleased to see so many volunteers, nearly 50 on the day, helping run the activities.

One Scout was overheard to saying “We might not be doing very well on the bases but we’re having a brilliant time and haven’t stopped smiling all the way round” and a team of girls said “yeah we beat the boys at pioneering!”

Congratulations to the winners, Biggin and Hartington with 648 points, runners up were the 3rd Buxton, then the 1st Chapel-en-le-Frith. All teams were fantastic and made it a very rewarding day.
