Commuters and residents in and around Chesterfield and Derbyshire are being warned about the following weather problems and disruptions to travel.
The Met Office has warned of winds of up to 80mph hitting the region, today, Thursday, December 5, and urged drivers to be careful in exposed rural areas.
Warnings included a risk of severe gales as a band of rain also begins to move south towards the East Midlands.
There will also be a risk of wintry showers and frost towards the evening, according to the Met Office, as temperatures plummet.
