The Met Office has forecast a cold, bright and dry morning today, Sunday, February 22, in and around Derbyshire.

Cloud is expected to thicken with rain and strong winds arriving by the afternoon.

This will give some hill snow over the Peak District, according to the Met Office, although this should turn to rain later in the day.

Forecasts predict that by tonight it will be cold but clear spells will develop through the evening with persistent rain easing.

However, scattered, blustery showers will give snow on hills, with sleet or snow also possible to lower levels.

The Met Office has issued a warning of snow by Monday, February 23, until Tuesday afternoon, February 24.

Frequent hail, sleet and snow showers are expected on Monday and to persist through much of Tuesday and the Met Office has also warned about ice.

Forecasts include temperatures may reach highs of seven degrees centigrade and lows of around two degrees centigrade.
