A man who made a name for himself as the Dancing Digger Man has died.
Wilfred Bown, 53, of Ashover, died at home last week.
A life-long resident of Ashover, he entertained at shows all over the country as the Dancing Digger Man.
His act involved making his yellow JCB digger ‘dance’ to music. The act began as a hobby to entertain children at a summer fete.
He was self-taught and used the same digger in his act that he used for work every day.
He spent his life working on diggers and tending his beloved land, as well as being a keen vintage tractor enthusiast.
He leaves behind his mother Mary and four children, Matthew, William, Thomas and Emily.
His funeral takes place at Brackenfield Church on Friday, June 24, at 9.30am.
