Performers in all categories, including comedy, dance, theatre, music, family and visual arts, can take advantage of a discounted price if they book their place before February 28.

The Fringe, which runs from July 8 to 26, is open to entries until April 19, the final deadline for the printed programme, but the committee is hoping many will take up the early booking offer.

Fringe chair Keith Savage said: “Watching both returning acts and new acts signing up is one of the most exciting times for the Fringe.”

Acts already confirmed include close-up magic, comedy by MJ Hibbett and Steve, a Day of Dance with Chapel-en-le-Frith Morris Men and an array of music from jazz, to opera and African drumming to choirs.

Underground Venues has also announced that it is open for applications.
