East Midlands MEP Andrew Lewer MBE looked in on Cromford Mills last week to view progress on the continuing restoration project.

He was shown round the buildings by Cromford Mills chief executive Sarah McCleod.

Andrew who was chairman of the UNESCO World Heritage Site from 2009 to 2013 and is a Governor of the University of Derby, a Vice-President of the Local Government Association and a Director of the Derbyshire Historic Buildings Trust, said: “This is a massive project which will take some time to complete.

“Much has been done and it was exciting to see just how far work has progressed.”
