Dust down your trowels, it’s time to get dirty as Calke Abbey celebrates its archaeological past.
From Sunday, July 24 to Sunday, July 31 there will be a variety of exciting digs, walks, lectures, identifications and fascinating forensic research activities.
The events are all associated with the national Festival of British Archaeology.
The top line-up of events will take place in The Riding School, Squirt the Stallion’s Stable and Calke Abbey gardens.
Calke Abbey live archaeology day is on Sunday, July 24 between 11am and 4pm, with plenty of walks, digs and workshops planned for the rest of the week. For further details see www.nationaltrust.org.uk
