The latest apprentices to join a leading Dales engineering firm have just begun their work with the firm.

Firth Fixson have taken on Luke Butler, Elliott Blythe, Harry Bereton, Logan Woolliscroft and Alex Bettney as the apprentices at their Darley Dale site for 2013.

Firth Rixson are a major employer in the Darley Dale and Matlock areas, and their facility produces high specification components for the Aerospace industry, found in the majority of aircraft engines.

The apprenticeships were helped by NLT, who have been providing recruitment and training services to Firth Rixon for a number of years; using their expertise in training engineering apprentices compliments their positive approach to the recruitment and development of young people from the local community.

Steve Day (Training Officer) and Miranda Kravaris (Recruitment Advisor) have worked closely with Firth Rixson to devise a recruitment strategy that ensures the best candidates were selected and assessed ready for interviewing.

The result is five new apprentices starting employment this month, with NLT coordinating their training.

A spokesperosn for NLT said: “We feel this success is an endorsement of the quality of NLT support in both the recruitment and training of engineering apprentices, and highlights the continued growth of manufacturing industries in the Derbyshire area.”
