Family’s appeal to find heroes

A RELIEVED family which was involved in a car crash and had to be rescued by two passing motorists are appealing for their “Good Samaritans” to come forward so they can thank them.

Andy, 41, and Hana York, 34, and their two young children Sam, 5, and Martha, 2, were travelling along Holestone Gate Road, near Ashover and Matlock, when they explained how their Ford people carrier was forced off the road by an on-coming vehicle, possibly a Toyota Corolla, in snowy and icy conditions.

Hana told how their vehicle went into a ditch and a tree as the on-coming vehicle continued its journey about 10am, on Sunday, March 10, but a passing flat-back truck and a camper van stopped and pulled their vehicle out with ropes.

Hana, of Holbrook, said: “Luckily, the two vehicles that came along included a tree surgeon and another man with equipment in the back of their truck and another kind man in a camper van and they used pulleys between them to get us out. We were so grateful but never had a chance to thank these Good Samaritans properly. We would love to hear from them.”

The helpers are urged to contact the family via the Matlock Mercury on 0780 350 5731. Police are also appealing for any witnesses to contact them on 101.
