A FORMER Highfields student has won a place at a world-class drama school renowned for teaching such modern-day celebrities as Russell Brand, Patsy Kensit, Leona Lewis and Pixie Lott.
Sophie Kilburn, of Darley Dale, secured a place at London’s prestigious Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts and will start the three-year Acting Degree - which is one of the country’s leading drama courses - this September.
Sophie said: “I’m absolutely thrilled and can’t wait to get started.”
During her time at Highfields, Sophie was a regular member of the cast of plays and musicals.
She was also a member of the Bakewell Youth Theatre and a key member of the team that established the Donut Creative Arts Studio in Chesterfield - where Sophie was the first person to achieve a Gold Arts Award.
Following on from her A Levels, Sophie left Highfields to undertake an Acting Foundation course at the Oxford School of Drama.
The Italia Conti Academy was recently featured in a BBC TV series – School for Stars - which paid homage to the good work it does.
