Some furry friends have been helping a church flower guild raise cash for charity.
More than 100 ferret racers gathered at Ashover Parish Hall for a a race night.
The event helped to raise more than £1,250 for the village’s flower festival and scarecrow trail, which will take place August bank holiday next year.
The festival raises funds which will be shared between All Saint’s Church and Ashgate Hospice.
“Many people told us what a fantastic evening they had,” Anne Eyley, church flower guild co-ordinator, said.
“We’d also like to apologise to all the people who were unable to get tickets.
They sold like hot cakes and we never even advertised the event.”
Next year’s flower festival theme will be ‘a treasury of verse’ and will be staged with support from members of Ashover Flower Arrangers’ Club.
