Fifteen people arrested as part of drugs crackdown in the High Peak and Derbyshire Dales

Operation Phoenix saw officers working in partnership during the week-long initiative to tackle those involved in drug use.

During the week, 15 people, aged between 14 and 41-years-old, were arrested for crimes including the possession of Class A and B drugs, money laundering and burglary.

The operation ran from November 17 to November 23 and saw officers carrying out a passive drugs dog operation in Glossop and Matlock to target suspected drug use in town centre pubs and clubs.

A number of targeted house searches and warrants were made which saw the seizure of a quantity of illegal drugs, and two vehicles were seized by police under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

The team spoke to young people to offer advice and support on drug and alcohol use, along with reassuring residents in the wider community that positive action will be taken against those who deal in illegal substances.

Sergeant Dan Hadfield from the Buxton Operational Support Team said: “Whilst the initial strike week has come to an end, we will continue to target the use and supply of drugs across the division.

“I would like to urge the public to report suspected drugs activity to police or Crimestoppers as we do act on the intelligence that you provide.”
