Fire and break-in at pub

Two men were arrested after a burglary and car fire at a Matlock pub.

Fire crews and police were called out at around 2.40am on Wednesday after a break-in at the Duke of Wellington Pub, in Wellington Street.

A bottle of spirits had been taken.

A Mercedes car, belonging to a customer, which was parked outside the pub had been torched.

One man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and on suspicion of arson.

A second man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and assault.

A police spokeswoman said they were both in custody and were set to be questioned.
