Firefighters called as Derbyshire School evacuated

Firefighters were called to extinguish a potential roof fire at a Derbyshire school.

Crews from Dronfield and Lowedges attended the incident at Holmesdale Infant School school on The Avenue in Dronfield at 2.04pm.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Fire Services said: “Hot work was being carried out at the two storey premise. Crews cut away part of the external roof but no fire was detected.

“The school was evacuated before our arrival.

“The stop message came in at 14.39 hours.”
