Flood alerts issued in Derbyshire

The Environment Agency has issued flood alerts for parts of Derbyshire following recent heavy and persistent rainfall.

The alerts - meaning flooding is possible and advising residents to be prepared - are in force for parts of the River Wye, upper River Dove and lower River Derwent.

Rising levels on the River Wye mean flooding of low-lying agricultural land is possible in the Ashford and Bakewell areas, while the agency has issued a precautionary alert on the upper River Dove and Henmore Brook.

For the lower River Derwent, flooding of low-lying agricultural land and roads is possible in Church Wilne, Draycott and Wilne Lane between Draycott and Sawley, the agency said.
