A BLOOMING marvellous team of villagers has been hard at work putting some flower power back into their community.

Blooming Milford has continued on its campaign to make the village a floral haven by planting daffodils and crocuses along Vicarage Road.

John Weaver, a member of the group, said: “This is something we started doing about five years ago.

“We thought the village needed tidying up.

“There were quite a lot of badly looked after areas.”

He said the team had had its eye on the site at Vicarage Road for a while.

“It’s been a mess for some time,” John explained.

“We call areas like that ‘blots’ until we’ve dealt with them.”

The team won silver in last year’s East Midlands in Bloom contest.

John said he took pride in seeing the flowers the group had planted coming out.
