A former priest will go on trial next year over allegations relating to the abuse of children.
Francis Paul Cullen, who served as parish priest at St Anne’s Catholic Church, in Terrace Road, Buxton, between 1978 and 1987, has been charged with 27 offences against three boys between 1956 and 1991.
He appeared at Derby Crown Court via video link from HMP Nottingham on Friday.
Wearing a grey sweatshirt, Cullen spoke only to confirm his name.
The 85–year–old was detained on a European arrest warrant issued by Britain while he was living in Tenerife.
He is due to appear in the court again on December 20 to enter a plea.
The case is expected to go to trial starting March 24 next year.
