Four men charged with theft of lead

Police have charged four men with stealing lead thought to be from a Cromford cafe.

Officers stopped a car in Mill Road, in Cromford, just before 2am on Thursday, July 7, and found it to be full of lead.

Lewis Wallis, 22, of Nottingham, George Charlton, 32, of Rotherham, Richard McGraph, 24, of Nottingham, and Shaun Lewis, 20, of Rotherham, appeared before Chesterfield Magistrates on Friday. Police are investigating whether the recovered lead was taken from Tor Cafe, in Derby Road, Cromford.

The cafe owner arrived at work on Thursday to discover that lead flashing had been taken from the roof some time since 2.30pm on Wednesday, July 6.
