The organisation, which recycles and re-uses furniture to help High Peak residents in need furnish their homes, will use the donation to provide emergency furniture packs and enable those on low incomes to obtain quality and affordable furniture.

Joan Cook, of Glossopdale Furniture Project, who applied to the Co-operative’s Community Fund, said: “We are delighted with the support from The Co-operative.

“We are open to the general public for furniture sales but it is generous donations of both furniture and funds that enables us to continue our work which reduces wastage and ensures that the more disadvantaged members of our community can furnish their homes too.”
