A DEDICATED business man is set to hang up his tape measure after working in his Matlock shop for 31 years.
Geoff Stevens and his wife Jacquie are to retire from their Men’s and Ladies wear business, in Causeway Lane.
There has been a clothing business on the site for eighty years with Geoff and Jacquie taking over the shop from the Eldridge family in 1980.
Geoff said: “We will both miss all of our loyal customers.
“Many of our regular customers live in Matlock and the surrounding area, but others travelled to the shop from the surrounding cities and towns, and even from much further a field.
“We would both like to thank them all for their loyal support over the years.”
Geoff who is a Derbyshire Dales district councillor and a town councillor, said: “I am confident that this will cause me no problems, as I will continue to serve the town that I was born and bred in as I have done for most of my life.
“Jacquie and I are expecting a second grandchild to be born in April, and retirement from the business will allow us to spend a little more time with the family.”
