“Most of the work for the Belper Festival has been done already and all the information is out there,” said George.

“In terms of Wirksworth, it will be a case of from June onwards I’ll be concentrating on that.

“I have to co-ordinate lots of things and make sure the different strands are all talking and communicating with each other.

“Wirksworth’s Festival is slightly different to Belper. For a start it has been running for 20-odd years.

“It’s also split between community projects and independent artists, who are given briefs - so it’s a different format to Belper.

“Belper is mostly based around the people involved and there’s lots of art and drama.

The Wirksworth Festival runs from September 10-26.

George says he hopes that this year’s instalment of the Belper event will build on the success experienced in 2014.

He added: “We hope that this year’s Festival attracts the same amount of interest as it did last year.

“We’ve tried to move things closer to the weekends in the hope to get big crowds and we’re optimistic it will work.

“We’re already planning for next year’s event.”

The Belper Arts Festival runs from May 2-30. For more visit belperartsfestival.org.
