CHOCOLATE makers from Bakewell are celebrating the sweet success of landing a national contract with John Lewis.
Holdsworth Chocolates, on Station Road, have been extremely busy getting ready for the launch this September and have even taken on extra staff to cope with the demand.
Creative Director Genevieve Holdsworth said: “We are very excited for the future and the John Lewis contract has cemented this for us.
“While we can cope for the time being, we are working at capacity right now and will have to look at getting a new premises soon.”
Genevieve added that if the company were to relocate, she would definitely consider taking the recently employed staff on permanently.
She said: “They’re all local people and have been working so hard which has been a great help.”
Holdsworth Chocolates was launched by Genevieve’s mother 25 years ago and over the years have landed seasonal contracts with such shops as Waitrose.
Genevieve now runs the company with her partner Catherine Rowland, operations director.
Genevieve said: “When other company’s are cutting back to make savings we have always strived to get better ingredients – which could be key to our success.”
The new John Lewis range will be in shops all year round and will feature trademark gift boxes as well as pink chocolate popping-candy hearts.
