Girls rescue at High Tor

Two girls were rescued after a fall at High Tor in Matlock Bath.

A 13-year-old girl and her ten-year-old friend got lost after a walk from Hall Leys Park to the limestone crag, on Tuesday, August 23.

The girls, both from Starkholmes, contacted the emergency services after the 13-year-old slipped off the path ,at around 5pm.

Mountain rescuers, fire crews and police searched for the youngsters.

They were eventually found by two members of the public at around 5.30pm.

A spokesman for the fire service said: “The girl fell 150 feet down a bank. Fire crews used rope rescue equipment to raise her to the path.”

The girl suffered scratches and bruises and was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken home.
