Glider pilot rescued after crashing into tree

The police helicopter found a glider which had crashed into a tree and directed rescuers to the pilot.

The aircraft was sent to the Great Hucklow area at 1.15pm on Tuesday after a man called police to say he had crashed.

When the crew found the man, they relayed details of his position to other emergency services. The 74-year-old Stockport man was carried by Mountain Rescue volunteers and firefighters to the air ambulance. He was taken to Sheffield Northern General Hospital.
