High Peak parents are being encouraged to attend internet lessons as police headed back to class to chat to students about staying safe and online dangers.

Officers from the Glossop Safer Neighbourhood Team have been working in partnership with Glossopdale Community College and Saint Philip Howard Catholic School to deliver lessons to year seven pupils about staying safe online.

The team have been engaging with students around issues such as sexual exploitation, cyber bullying and the consequences of shoplifting.

Parents are now being invited to attend a parents evening at 6.30pm at St Philip Howard Catholic School on February 26 and Glossopdale Community College March 5 about the ways that they can protect their children online.

PC Julian Gallagher from the Glossop Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We had a positive response from the class and I would like to encourage parents to attend the evening to receive similar advice as the students and information about how you can further encourage safe internet use at home.”
