Going back 100 years

Visitors to a school room will be transported back 100 years as part of a celebration of heritage.

Fleet Arts has been working with Cromford School to recreate the atmosphere of a 1911 classroom for this year’s Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site Discovery Days.

Members of the public will be able to turn back the clock and visit the 1911 classroom on Sunday, November 4, between noon and 4pm.

The event will take place in the hall at Cromford School, in North Street, and there will be old furniture, maps, a blackboard and an easel.

There will even be a stern headmaster present to meet visitors and people will be able to take part in a mini lesson. The event is free and open to all.
