IT was all plain sailing for a group who were handed £1,000 to help support a good cause.
The Bakewell Rotary Club passed over a cheque to Carsington Sailing Club in support of the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, a charity offers young terminally-ill people a chance to go sailing.
Rotary president, Kathryn Heath had raised the cash when she cut off her ponytail for charity.
After learning of a charity that accept ponytails over ten inches long to create wigs for young cancer sufferers, she made her decision.
She said: “We had a presentation at the club about the trust where we learned how they support the young people with confidence building.
“It was really impressive and I wanted to continue helping young cancer sufferers. As I was already cutting my hair for a similar cause, I thought I could get some fundraising going as well.”
