Kathy, of Windmill Rise, appeared on the programme on Friday, January 23, after being approached due to her open garden success.

Kathy has opened her garden to the public as part of the National garden Scheme (NGS) since 2009 in a bid to raise cash for charity, and will do so again this summer.

She said of her big television debut: “It was a bit nerve wracking but quite a fun experience. However, it is not the most important part of why I open my garden – that is to raise donations and we must not forget that.”

Kathy said the NGS was a brilliant scheme to be part of.

She said: “ I have taken partfor many years and it is great that people come and appreciate the hard work put into my garden.

“But what is even greater is that it is all done in the name of charity.

“We have raised thousands in the past and I hope that this year we can continue to raise as much as possible for charity.”

NGS has given over £40 million to nursing and caring charities since it was founded.

Last year it raised around £2.5 that was split between Macmillan and Marie Curie.

Kathy will open her garden at 26 Windmill Rise, on
Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5.

NGS sees thousands of outstanding gardens opened to the public throughout England and Wales to raise money for nursing and caring charities.
