The Grindleford Gallop is a 21-mile race around some of the Peak District’s most beautiful spots. It is the primary fundraising event for the Grindleford Parent, Teachers and Friends Association (PTA). Over the years it has helped to subsidise school trips for pupils, built a trim trail in the playground and funded the purchase staging facilities for school productions.

The event is a major date in the village calendar with residents and local businesses providing support. Winners’ prizes were supplied by Outside, whilst the soup served to finishers was produced by The Sir William Hotel.

Villagers pulled together to bake over 1500 pieces of flapjack, cakes and biscuits to feed competitors en route and manned checkpoints around the course, handled registration and recorded finishers.
