Group rescued at Harden Clough after woman injures ankle

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team responded to a call for assistance from a Duke of Edinburgh Award group on Saturday.

The group had called the police asking for help, following a report that one of their party had suffered an ankle injury and they thought they were on Rushop Edge.

The initial information provided was sketchy and mobile phone contact had been lost. However the team of 16 soon located the party of three in Harden Clough on the south side of the Edale Valley, well below Rushop Edge.

Following assessment and treatment by team members a 22-year old female casualty from London was packaged and carried on a mountain rescue stretcher to the road head and then taken by team vehicle to Edale Station Car Park to await a land ambulance.
