GUEST COLUMN: DLRAA team call for volunteers to take on new challenges

At this time of year many of us decide to reinvent ourselves. Our air ambulance might not be undergoing a complete transformation, but we always strive to keep at the cutting edge and providing the best possible care for our communities.

Have you made your New Year’s resolutions? Maybe you’re looking to get more fit, or be more adventurous, or even have a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance is happy to announce that we have you covered.

We’ve introduced a brand new range of fundraising challenges for the New Year. From trekking across the rainforests of Borneo to cycling across the Alps or the Great Wall of China, from sky diving and wing walking to marathons and Tough Mudders, we have an array of incredible experiences for people looking to do something new this year.

Last year was an amazing one for our air ambulance. We completed over 1,000 missions to people in need of lifesaving care and celebrated our seventh birthday and our 7,000th mission – all made possible by the brilliant effort of people in our local communities.

But we’re not resting on our laurels. We have big plans about how we’re going to continue to fund and provide the very best emergency care service to everyone in our counties. Keep an eye on our website, www.theairambulanceservice.org.ukto find out what’s new with your local air ambulance.

Thank you for all your support last year – here’s to a brand new year, and a brand new you!
