Hannah is aiming for Miss World title

WHATSTANDWELL model Hannah McCuaig, has the world in her sights as she prepares to head off for the Miss England National Final at the end of June.

If successful she will go forward to the Miss World final.

Hannah is already the holder of a fair few titles and trophies but admits this would be the greatest prize of all.

She said: "It would be a dream come true to get to Miss World. I entered Miss England in 2003 and placed in the top 15 but now I have much more experience and hope to go further."

Hannah was spotted by the organisers of Miss England while taking part in a beach babe competition in 2003 and her career has taken off since then.

She regularly travels the globe taking part in fashion shows, modelling shoots and even television appearances.

She said: "I have so much fun, you get great prizes and meet like-minded girls from all over the world. Miss England is not a traditional beauty competition, things have really changed.

"The contest is not just about looking good, it is about being confident with yourself, having fun and showing what you are made of.

"I am really lucky that my family and friends are supportive of what I do. Sometimes people just assume you are blonde and stupid for taking part but many girls taking part have degrees."

She is especially grateful to her sponsor, Jonathon Sandler, who provided the 1,250 sponsorship needed to get to the Miss England final.

Jonathan is an orthodontist working at Chesterfield Hospital and he helped Hannah to a perfect smile with eight years worth of braces.

She said: "He is my golden ticket to the final and I can't thank him enough."

Hannah will be attending a Model UK training weekend on June 15, in preparation for the Miss England national final, in which she will receive her crown, sash and invaluable training tips for the Miss England contest.

All contestants are judged on their moral character, spirit, and also physically judged in three sections – club wear, casual wear and evening wear.

Hannah will be wearing a turquoise evening wear gown, made by South African designer, Andrea Bryant.

The national final of Miss England will be held during the weekend of June 28 to June 30 at the Athena in Leicester. Look out for the result of the contest on www.matlockmercury.co.uk
