Have officers nothing to do?

We have a huge budget deficit and are about to lose our AAA rating.

I hear the police are facing budget cuts of ten per cent.

Under such circumstances, I was surprised to see three, yes three, uniformed officers stood in the sunshine on Station Road in the crime metropolis of Darley Dale this morning.

They appeared to be randomly pulling motorists over for spot checks on their vehicles.

Will someone please find these individuals something useful to do?

Investigating actual crimes for instance, rather than harassing citizens with pointless inspections. We already have the MoT test for identifying faults with vehicles. Anyone would be well within their rights to drive straight past them having committed no offence. These officers are employed by the State to serve the public.

If they can’t be found any real work to do, then I suggest some redundancies notices are issued.
