A GROUP of Dales residents raised a healthy £6,000 for charity after battling through the Great North Run.
The team of 15 runners entered the race on behalf of Bakewell charity Helen’s Trust – who support terminally ill people at home – in September.
Zoe Smith, who raised £680 for the charity, said: “I’ve always wanted to do The Great North Run and Team Helen’s Trust were really supportive. It was great to feel like part of a team and also to raise money for an important local charity.”
Community fundraiser Sophie Gill, of Matlock, said: “The money raised will make a big difference to Helen’s Trust.”
Challenges for 2013 are set to include the Tough Mudder and climbing Kilimanjaro.
