Heanor Library under development

Construction is gathering pace at the new Heanor Library site on Ilkeston Road.

A Derbyshire County Council spokesman said: “The walls are in place and scaffolding is now going up for work to start on the roof.

“The building will then need cladding and internal fixtures and fittings will be installed.

“We expect the completion date to be the first week of August.

“Meanwhile, residents can continue to use their library services at our temporary branch in Ray Street.”

The £892,500 purpose-built library will feature an improved children’s library, a health and wellbeing zone and a study area.
